MS in Kinesiology

Craig Valency is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA). Craig earned his bachelor degree from UCLA and Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from San Diego State University.

Craig is a contributing author to the 2017 edition of the textbook of the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) for certified personal training, as well as the co-author of Powerful Play: The Ultimate Guide to the Foundations of Youth Fitness and Physical Literacy (2016). 

He has also published articles and numerous instructional YouTube videos on functional training. Craig has been involved in strength training since the age of 12. He has also been a lifelong Tennis player, competing at the Varsity high school level, World Team Tennis and USTA sanctioned tournaments. 

Besides helping the general population work towards fitness, health, and weight loss goals, Craig also works extensively with the senior population to improve mobility, balance, reaction, and functional strength. Craig has completed a physical therapy internship and uses developmental and corrective exercises to help improve functional outcomes and reduce pain in common trouble spots such as the back and shoulders.

Craig also specializes in youth strength and conditioning programs that promote physical literacy, injury prevention, and optimal performance. Craig works with some of the top junior tennis players in the world as well as players at the collegiate and professional level. The training focus is on injury prevention, mobility, agility and explosive power to maximize their potential and longevity on the court. 

Craig takes pride in developing holistic training programs promoting lifestyle change to achieve permanent results for a diverse client population. He works to help clients reach their goals to feel better, look better, and function better. He integrates his knowledge of nutrition and exercise to develop individualized programs for maximal long-term results.
