Three Tips to Improve Shoulder Mobility and Flexibility in Softball Pitchers
Dr. Britt Lillie, DPT CSCS, wants to help prevent injury in softball pitchers by improving Shoulder mobility and flexibility. She is a former D1 softball pitcher and has massive amounts of experience in the Rehab and Prehab fields.
Watch her tip video below:
1. One main area to improve is with the Thoracic spine and a foam roller. Rolling up and down will allow the thoracic spine to become more mobile and it will help to open up your upper back.
2. Another is to use a Softball against a wall and apply pressure to the tight areas in the rotator cuff. This is also called the posterior cuff.
3. Try doing a Pec stretch to improve mobility by using a wall and leaning into it. You should feel a good stretch in the front of your shoulder and pec. Beware of moving too far forward, and feel free to adjust your position to aleviate any pain.
